Happy Birthday, Corey!

Okay...I know we're a few days late with this post...but better late than never, right? We had a nice afternoon and evening at home for Corey's birthday. I made him a rhubarb pie (his favorite) and Natalie opened all his cards and blew out his candles. We bought the rhubarb and the birthday candles on Tuesday and didn't make the pie or light it on fire until Saturday...so, you can only imagine how impatient Natalie got for the whole promised production. Every day when she woke up (in the morning and then again from her nap) she would say, "Natalie bwoh out Daddy's cannels now?" I had to keep telling her that it wasn't quite time yet. Imagine her excitement when the moment finally came.

She was way more impressed with the candle extinguishing than the pie and wanted to light it again right after it went dark. We've been having a very difficult time getting her to sleep these days and most nights we resort to breakfast bribery. That's right...we promise waffles, juice, all the goodies to get her to go to sleep. Well, that night she agreed to go to sleep for waffles with candles! She went to sleep (fairly) easily that night so the next morning she got her very own birthday breakfast. Wish I had a picture...you'll just have to use your imagination.

This picture cracked me up...Corey crossed his hands when he was making a wish and Natalie thought he was praying...she clasped her hands, closed her eyes, bowed her head and waited. She's never seen so many candles lit at one time other than church so it made perfect sense to her!

I'd be careful- that little girl knows what she wants, and now she knows exactly how to get it. (I think I may be becoming officailly afraid of toddlers)

But oh man, that first picture of her looks like she is saying a quick prayer of thanks for finally getting to blow out the candels! Lucky girl!

(maybe you should have a half birthday celebration for Natalie- my aunt did that for me, she brought me a half birthday cake to celebrate- it was really fun, all you would have to do is cook one 8 or 9 inch cake and cut it in ahlf and stack it. could be a fun family tradition!)

(oops, I guess I got ahead of myself, I always read half of the blog and then have to comment, but I guess she was praying! too cute)
