No trip to Tahoe is complete without a hike down to Emerald Bay. Prior to having kids, this dusty descent to the water felt like a nice, invigorating walk in the woods. However, with a 5 year old and a 2 year old in tow, at times it felt more like an expedition. Audrey refused to sit in the backpack. I decided not to fight her and just wore the empty pack while she walked beside me. Her walk turned into a run. Her run turned into a faceplant fall in the dirt. We were barely beyond the parking lot at this point. So, into the pack she went, screaming. She contined to scream for the next few switchbacks. So much for peacefully communing with nature on the way down.
In order to feel at ease in the backpack, Audrey had to hold on to my shirt sleeves the entire time.
I just loved this expression and I always love a chunky thighs shot!
Audrey and I killed time taking pictures and picking flowers (we probably weren't supposed to pick) while Grandma Lala took Natalie up to Eagle Falls
Once at lake level everyone had a great time. And the hike up was quiet...Audrey slept and Natalie was too tired to do too much complaining. Thanks, Mom, for making that hike possible. A trip to Tahoe isn't the same without it.
