I'll post about all those fun things that packed our October but today it's all about Halloween.
Our pumpkins...
Our project...
We decided to participate in the Teal Pumpkin Project this year. It's an idea sponsored by Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) to spread awareness about Halloween challenges for kids with food allergies. Most of what Natalie collects in her Trick or Treat bag contains nuts or the risk of nuts so she ends up being able to eat a small fraction of what she gets. FARE is encouraging families not only to give out toys instead of edible treats, but to do so alongside a teal pumpkin and a sign explaining why to hopefully spread the message that Halloween candy is indeed scary for many kids with food allergies. It was fun to paint a pumpkin and no more expensive to buy cheap toys instead of candy. In fact, probably less. And any leftovers will keep until next year. We're hoping that the idea catches on and more of our neighbors choose to hand out toys next year instead.
And finally, our Princess and our Pixie....
Audrey as Princess Sofia the First
And Natalie as Tinkerbell
Such a fun Halloween!
