Hard Day, Happy Heart

We had a rough day the other day. One of those days that had us anxious for bedtime before breakfast was over. Our very strong willed 3 year old had apparently woken up on the wrong side of her toddler bed. It was obvious before 9am that minding would be minimal but moodiness at its max. Throughout the day, there were numerous time outs, lots of tears and bad tempers all around. It was miserable...for all of us.

I'm fairly certain Natalie is a relatively happy kid who sometimes likes to act a little miserable. As the difficult day came to and end, I noticed her drawing this picture. A self portrait of a happy little girl, under a rainbow, wearing a smile and a dress covered in jelly beans and picking flowers. If she can draw this picture at the end of a rotten day then I think she must be doing okay. She has a happy heart under all that occassional attitude and I'm thankful for that.

What an amazing little artist she is!!! That easel was the best gift Santa could have found for her!
