Palm Springs

We spent some time in Palm Springs last week and it was really nice to get away. Even though we left a big, hot desert city to go to a smaller, hotter, desert city, it's amazing what the presence of a backyard pool can do for one's "I-can't-believe-how-hot-it-is-outside" blues. It was just what we needed.

It was great spending time with Papa Rod and Grandma Lala. Natalie got to show off all her new swimming skills, check out 26 books at the library (Grandma Lala can't say "no"...especially when books are involved), unwrap a new goodie of some sort every day, paint with really nice paints, play dress up in a closet waaaaaay (to the fourth power)more exciting than mine, go out to breakfast with Papa Rod and nap next to grandma every afternoon. She left reluctantly, to say the least.

Oh, and Audrey got her share of spoiling, too. She almost always had arms around her! She smelled like Mom's perfume the entire week, if that tells you anything. I really love it when my kids smell like my Mom's perfume.

Just one of the 26 books.
Papa Rod sacrificed his hat to hold all the flowers Natalie picked on one of their walks after breakfast. He was quite impressed that she knew the names of all the flowers. Oh, to be flower crazy AND the daughter of a landscape architect. At least she doesn't spout them off in Latin like he does...I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

Audrey taking a nice nap BEFORE we started the 5 hour drive home!
Smart parents, aren't we?

We miss you guys. Thanks for a great week!
