Our Birthday Girl!

 Our lovely Natalie is 7.
 The lucky number 7.

She's reading, she's writing, she's spelling in front of Audrey like we very recently did in front of her! She really could run the place if we let her.  She's sensitive and artistic and graceful and organized.  She very much loves everything glittery and girly, tiaras and tutus.  But she also loves watching Man vs. Wild with Corey, playing with snails (and painting their shells with nail polish to see who comes back day after day) studying about reptiles and letting her pet gecko, Zipper, crawl on her face.  She talks about being a teacher, a scientist, and an artist.  She loves making homes for Lego friends, stuffed animals, and actual crawling critters.  While she loves her dolls, her Legos, her Barbies, her rock collection and her Rainbow Loom, I think the kid could be perfectly content if all she had to play with were art supplies.  Well, art supplies and the Rainbow Loom.  The kid is hooked on looming and has made countless bracelets, keychains, necklaces and rings!  She's a bright light, this one.  And we love her to pieces.
 She's brilliant, brave and beautiful.
Look out world!!
She didn't want a birthday party with friends this year and, instead, requested a "family party".  I explained to her that with no family living in town that her family party would be just the four of us. I know she's heard kids at school talk about having family birthday parties and I'm not sure what she originally had in mind but she made peace with the fact that it would be just the four of us and was very excited about that.  We let her open her presents Saturday night so she could have the day Sunday to play with everything

We were secretly relieved that she didn't want a birthday party this year because we had this in mind instead anyway...
The girls were royally stoked, as expected!
To be perfectly honest, this was them being stoked
in slow motion for the benefit of getting it on camera.
Their original reaction, while still positive and excited,
was far more mellow as I think they were both in a bit
of shock at the news.

Totally fun way to ring in the next year!
We're heading to Disneyland soon.  So excited!
Happy Birthday, Princess!
