Christmas Close Ups

I didn't have any luck getting sweet smiles the other day. Instead, I got scrunchie face close ups. Natalie thought this was hilarious. In monkey-see-monkey-do fashion, Audrey thought it was hilarious, too.

This Christmas season has been a lot of fun with the girls the ages they are. Natalie is excited to find our visiting elf every morning in a new hiding place. His name is George. He visits us each day, picking a new perch from which to watch squabbling sisters, and then returns to the North Pole each night to report to Santa. A little creepy and Big Brother-ish? Sure. But his presence makes a difference during the month leading up to Christmas. I just glance his direction and Natalie (usually) changes her tune. The challenge is "reminding" George to fly home and return to a new spot each morning. When Natalie asked why there was a post-it note on my bathroom mirror with a giant, bold, black G on it, I had to think fast and tell her it was so that I remembered to cover the G-G-G-Garden if it was going to be cold outside. She misses NOTHING, that kid...especially now that she knows her letters. She sounded out a spelled S-A-N-T-A at the dinner table the other night.

Audrey is just loving all the seasonal additions to the house. The tree has been totally undecorated from 3' down. She holds the warm lights against her closed eyelid just long enough for it to worry me a bit. She's learned the best way to eat a Christmas cookie is to lick all the frosting off first. She stashes critical pieces of the Nativity scene in her little car trunk for days at a time. She's learned to turn the tree lights on and off and does so ALL DAY LONG. And, like her big sis, she loves admiring neighborhood houses that have totally overdecorated with blow up, light up, spinning, twinkling yard art.

The next two weeks are going to be great.
