Last Days of School 2015

How on earth am I writing a "Last Days of School 2015" post?   Didn't we just start school?  Wasn't it just Halloween?  I cannot believe how fast this year flew by.  It's no wonder it felt speedy, the girls grew and changed and experienced so much this school year.  It's been awesome to watch!

Natalie rocked 2nd grade.  She is now reading chapter books at a lightening fast speed.  She has her first library card and considers it a prized possession (yes!).  She's understanding fractions and multiplication and even a little bit of division.  She loves science and music and, of course, always art.  She worked on big projects this year and did a few oral reports.  She even TYPED a few of these reports.  It was painfully slow and grueling to watch her peck away at the keyboard but she did it with her usual determination and my guess is she'll be typing as fast as she's reading within a few years. She enjoyed her teachers and pretty much most of school this year.  And she brought home a report card that sparkled.  We're so proud of her.

Audrey's Pre K growth has been awesome to witness.  She's recognizing pretty much every letter of the alphabet and can write all of them.  She loves signing her name and has learned to write "I love you" all on her own in recent weeks.  She can count as high as her attention span will allow, loves being read to, goes to bed with a stack of books to look through, can draw better than most first graders and paints beautifully.  She loved her teachers so much and they loved her right back.  As do most people that meet her.  One fellow preschool mom pulled me aside one day at pick up time and said, "Audrey is my favorite little girl... and I have a little girl at home!"  Priceless.

So, here we are, starting summer vacation with another fantastic school year behind our belt.  On to 3rd Grade and Kindergarten (gulp!). I'd be happy if they just stopped growing up for a while now.
